Jesus, migraine and me.
Migraine is classified by the World Health Organisation as the 12th leading cause of disability worldwide among women & the 19th overall. But migraine is often overlooked as 'just a headache'. Migraine is a debilitating, neurological disease.
Symptoms usually include a severe recurring intense throbbing pain on one side of the head (although in 1/3 of migraine attacks, both sides are affected). Attacks last between 4 and 72 hours and are often accompanied by one or more of the following: visual disturbances, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, extreme sensitivity to sound, light, touch and smell, and tingling or numbness in the extremities or face. In my case I have chronic migraine. Chronic migraine is when headaches occur on 15 or more days per month. Sufferers are often significantly disabled, and their overall quality of life is greatly diminished.
I am a migraine sufferer. Life for me over the past two years has been very hard, and I am still suffering with it, but I have hope in Jesus. He has carried me through this and will continue to do so. This is my story.
